Although it feels like a lifetime has passed, it wasn’t that long ago that Marcus Shepherd was lost and uncertain about which road to take in life. He had made some missteps along the way, and was still reeling from the loss of his mother when he made a decision. A decision that would drastically alter his life and would begin a journey that is still unfolding.
The Potawatomi Business Development Corporation (PBDC), the economic diversification arm of the Forest County Potawatomi (FCP) has reached great heights in the 10 years since it began. Most notably for the construction industry was the formation of Greenfire Management Services, LLC (Greenfire) in 2010 – a construction management, property management and owner’s representative subsidiary of the PBDC.
WRTP/BIG STEP has been ramping up core-tutoring and career-preparation activities for individuals interested in pursuing an apprenticeship. There will be an increased number of BIG STEP orientation sessions in summer and fall, as well as extended evening and weekend hours to meet the increased capacity of the program. In addition, WRTP/BIG STEP has established exciting new partnerships with the Bricklayers and Painters.
Since 1973, Fond du Lac based Ahern has had a strong presence in Milwaukee, and it began when they purchased an established mechanical contracting firm in the area just north of the Schlitz Brewery. From there they moved to Menomonee Falls in 1991, and last year they made a bold move by building a new, state-of-the art facility in the Menomonee Valley.
