When he was 19 years old, Chuck Cherney, a Laborer with Local 113, was looking for a summer job between semesters at UW-Whitewater. Like the majority of tradespeople, construction wasn’t necessarily Chuck’s first career choice. After working a few summers, and attending college for a little over four years, Chuck realized something important.

In business since 1911, Uihlein Electric – a union electrical contractor – has found the right mix of leadership, employees and projects that keeps them busy and successful. Over the past two years, they have worked on large, high-profile jobs that have proven to the industry Uihlein will succeed another hundred years.
It’s not every day we get to interview a General President, but we were given the opportunity thanks to Marcus Shepherd with the Painters & Allied Trades District Council 7. We were very proud to hear how Marcus was inspired by Kenneth Rigmaiden, General President for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), and humbled that we were able to get Mr. Rigmaiden to answer a few questions for our readers.
We are asking that anyone who is able to attend the Kenosha Common Council meeting on Monday, August 5 at 7 p.m. to go in support of the Meijer’s project.
This past month we were involved in a lot of future projects, and were successful in helping to keep them moving forward. Some of the projects we helped with were the Innovation Park Hotel, a Park East project with Opus and Meijer’s in Kenosha.
