Pre-apprenticeship training
If you don't meet the requirements for apprenticeship training right now, there are resources that can help you qualify in less than six months. The Building Industry Group Skilled Trades Employment Program (BIG STEP) helps pre-train and place construction career seekers into apprenticeship programs.
BIG STEP was founded more than 30 years ago and serves as the premier pre-training apprenticeship training program for the Milwaukee Building and Construction Trades Council (MBCTC) and employers within the Associated General contractors of Greater Milwaukee (AGC-GM). BIG STEP's combination of classroom and hands-on instruction helps prepare you for the apprenticeship entrance exams, consistently graduating more than 75 percent of its students into apprenticeship programs each year.
