Collaborative Efforts Keep Union Strong

By Ken Kraemer, Executive Director Building Advantage

The success of our industry, especially in today's economic climate, depends on communication and solid relationships. We all have to make ongoing efforts to secure more projects. By talking with our contractors and their associations regularly, we know they are all reaching out to their customers to keep as many members working as possible.

To our members who are fortunate enough to be working, please continue to make jobsites as safe, efficient and productive as possible. This is the best way to demonstrate to our customers the value of union construction. To those members affected by the economic downturn, now is the time to upgrade your skills and take advantage of the training offered by each of the unions.

As we all do our part to secure more work, we must continue to show our customers that our training and work ethic are what make the union construction industry strong. Our talents will stay in demand as long as we strive to improve our skills and remain committed to hard work.

In this issue, you will find a great story about the Aurora Medical Complex and discover how the project team created efficiencies to meet the aggressive timeline. You will meet the leaders of Painters District Council 7 and the owner of Langer Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc., hear their stories and learn what contributes to their success.

Summer is well underway, and we all need to work hard to remain successful. As always, if you have questions or comments, please let me know.
