The Power of One Jobsite Tour
Each year, Building Advantage shows its thanks for its workers’ efforts by providing lunches on jobsites. The Power of One jobsite tour remained busy throughout the summer months and well into the fall of 2008. More than 650 workers enjoyed a meal at six jobsites, ranging from education facilities and living facilities to a top-notch green building project.
In August, we visited the Brown Deer YMCA and Newcastle Place jobsites to thank the workers for their efforts and recognize the value our union contractors and trades people consistently deliver. At the YMCA we met with Chris Patti, J.P. Cullen’s Superintendent, who was a very gracious host and made it clear that he and Cullen understood the benefits union labor brings to the jobsite.
During our Newcastle Place visit, C.G. Schmidt showed us they see value in hiring union contractors and trades people by the attendance of Mike Abuls, Executive Vice President, Tim Just, Vice President of Field Operations, Will Kulling, Project Manager, Phil Lloyd, Superintendent, and Joe Yanasak, Senior Superintendent. They all took time out to talk with Ken Kraemer about the benefits Building Advantage brings to their company.
Visiting the M&I University site on September 25 was a great experience. Ken had the chance to sit down and talk with union trades people of all experience levels – from veterans who shared stories of the past to apprentices talking about their excitement over being part of such a great project. We would like to thank all of the workers for their time, as well as Findorff’s Superintendent Jim Gonzalez, Carpenter Foreman Adam Budda and M&I for allowing Building Advantage to make this job site visit a reality.
On October 9, we visited the Johnson Controls corporate headquarters jobsite and were immediately impressed. The site was efficient and organized, and it was obvious that Hunzinger valued the character and work ethic of union trades people. This project was as welcoming as it was impressive. The building is seeking LEED Platinum rating for green building and development practices.
We’d like to extend our thanks to Project Manager Jon Sheahan, Senior Project Manager Daniel W. Davies, all the skilled and hungry workers from Hunzinger, and to Johnson Controls for allowing us to visit this incredible project.
The Power of One jobsite tour will be back again in 2009, starting earlier than ever to feed and thank as many members of the union construction industry as possible. If you would like the jobsite tour to visit your construction site, please contact Ken Kraemer at (262) 229-5959.
