Making RPP Work for You
As you might be aware, public sector work is increasing in our area, and it might be the majority of work we will see in the coming months and years. Building Advantage has been doing its part to give our members opportunities to get back to work, and the Residential Preference Program (RPP) might provide some of you with a way to begin working again.
BIG STEP (the industry's workforce development sector) and your local union have been coordinating with each other to register any individual as RPP that meets the following requirements:
- City of Milwaukee resident
- Worked less than 1,200 hours in the past year OR has been out of work more than 30 days
If you feel you meet the above requirements, we encourage you to contact your local union. BIG STEP is committed to getting everyone registered as soon as possible, and has scheduled dates at your local union's hall to answer questions and see if you qualify.
It's important to all involved in the industry that we have accurate lists of individuals who meet these requirements. Today, many contractors are bidding on work with RPP requirements because they trust our unions will be able to meet the demands of RPP regulation. Please help us reassure our contractors and get you back to work by contacting your local union to see if you qualify.
